We all like to have some breath space in this busy life, yes and we often go for an outing once we have it and especially this will be on Sunday's . City have got a lot of outing spots like the museum premises, Kanakakunnu palace , the beautiful Veli and last but not the least the beautiful beaches namely Kovalam and Shanghumugham beaches attracts a boatload, especially in the weekends.The Shanghumugham beach holds a handiness with the city , helps a large crowd to attracted by this spot.
The beach which is also known as "Arattukadav " of Lord Padmanabha the sacred diety of Ananthapuri. The "Kalmandapam" is another magic and attraction. The beach is also one sunset point , most of the city inhabitants like to witness the magical sunset atleast once in a week! The beach has been featured in numerous malayalam movies over the years, even now you can see some shooting going on there.
The very next attraction is the 35 meter long sculpture of “Matsya Kanyaka” , done by the artist, Mr Kanayi Kunjiraman.The chacha Nehru traffic training park is another attraction, more than promoting fun the park provides a knowledge of basic traffic rule's with most modern signal systems.
Coming to eateries in Shanghumugham, its a mouth watering scene! The traditional snacks like " Pazhampori, Mutta baji , Banana baji " etc will taste best with a black tea or a normal tea. You can have the option for traditional cuisine like kappa&fish , puttu / fish etc from the hotels near the beach which are run by the residents in beach.The beach will just make you remember the Marina beach in Chennai by the crowd gathering here. The beach is just and ideal place to have a weekend.
